Leading divers teams

Leading a divers team often means navigating diverse cultures, career stages, and personalities—while balancing high performance expectations, limited resources, and competing priorities. Team leaders may struggle with giving constructive feedback, assessing performance fairly, without harming collaboration or motivation.

This interactive workshop is designed for researchers who lead or aspire to lead teams in academia. We will explore practical approaches to leading diverse teams, with a focus on effective feedback and performance assessment. Participants will gain concrete strategies, reflect on their leadership practice, and discuss their own challenging situations to strengthen their effectiveness in research settings.

 

Kommunikation, Umgang mit schwierigen Situationen

Verwaltungsmitarbeitenden an Universitäten arbeiten oft in einem Spannungsfeld von unterschiedlichen Erwartungen, Rollen und Interessen. Studierende haben dringende Anliegen, Wissenschaftler*innen stehen unter Zeitdruck, interne Abläufe sind komplex und Ressourcen oft begrenzt. Missverständnisse, emotionale Reaktionen oder eskalierende Gespräche gehören zu den alltäglichen Herausforderungen. Schwierige Situationen kosten Zeit, belasten die Zusammenarbeit und können langfristig zu Stress und Frustration führen.

In diesem praxisorientierten Workshop lernen die Teilnehmenden, wie sie klar, wertschätzend und lösungsorientiert kommunizieren – auch in herausfordernden Situationen. Der Fokus liegt auf dem professionellen Umgang mit Konflikten, dem Setzen von Grenzen sowie dem Deeskalieren schwieriger Gespräche. Anhand von Beispielen aus dem eigenen Arbeitsalltag, kurzen Inputs und interaktiven Übungen entwickeln die Teilnehmenden konkrete Strategien, um auch in anspruchsvollen Situationen souverän und handlungsfähig zu bleiben.
