Garside groups and some hyperbolic type Artin groups

This talk is intended as a friendly introduction to the Garside groups, which are generalizations of braid groups. I will then talk about recently joint work with Thomas Haettel, where we come up with a new way of constructing Garside groups, which has some application on understanding some open questions for a class of Artin groups.
