Although differentially closed fields are in many ways similar to the better known algebraically closed fields, there are striking differences. I will survey some results on differentially closed fields and their automorphisms and embeddings, comparing and contrasting with algebraically closed fields along the way, including both classical results in the subject and results from David Marker's 2023 paper "Rigid Differentially Closed Fields". While the results are reasonably accessible, the proofs are rather more complicated, and if time permits I will try to say how model theory enters the picture there.
