After recalling the classification of \(X\)-semisimple representations of the double affine Hecke algebra (DAHA) of type \(GL_m\) away from roots of unity, we will present new results on the root of unity case. Namely, we will introduce so-called doubly periodic tableaux that will allow us to construct representations of the DAHA in this setting. We will then see how these representations are related to the theory of quantum groups, as they can be also obtained by using certain spaces of intertwiners of quantum group representations. This is based on joint work with A. Chandler, L. Bittmann and A. Mellit.
