I will discuss a simple construction for irreducible components of Lusztig's nilpotent varieties of a quiver. For type A it is conjecturally compatible with taking the socle of parabolic induction of representations of GL(n,F) where F is a non-archimedean local field. We prove a special case of this conjecture.
