Abstract: Alpha complexes were originally developed to quantitatively describe the spatial configuration of a point set. Motivated by a biomedical question that I will outline at the beginning of the talk, we introduced a more general version, a chromatic alpha complex, tailored to the setting where the input points come with an additional label (a color). In this talk, I will define the complexes involved and illustrate their structural properties. No background in topology will be assumed.
