Abstract: I will survey some of the results concerning the complexity of geometric simplicial complexes realized in euclidean space. Moreover, I will prove new upper bounds and lower bounds on this complexity using geometric group theory and algebraic geometry, generalizing results of Freedman-Krushkal and Descartes.
