Phase separation on varying surfaces and convergence of diffuse interface approximations

24.04.2024 14:00 - 14:45

Matthias Röger (TU Dortmund, Germany)

This work is motivated by Jülicher-Lipowsky type variational models for phase separated biomembranes, where a curvature energy for the overall shape is coupled to a line tension energy for the phase interfaces. We considers diffuse approximations where the line tension contribution is replaced by a Modica–Mortola type energy. Our approach uses the concept of BV functions over rectifiable currents introduced by Anzellotti, Delladio and Scianna [Annali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, 1996].

The seminars take place in hybrid form (in person and also on Zoom). The Zoom link is sent per email through the SFB Newsletter (normally sent either on Friday or during the weekend). You can subscribe to this newsletter at sfb65.univie.ac.at
Alternatively, if you are interested only in a given seminar, you could request a Zoom link by writing an email to matteo.tommasini@univie.ac.at (please write your request from an institutional email address, so that we can minimize the risk of Zoombombing).
