Abstract: The connection between the geometry of geodesics and moderate deviation estimates in planar stochastic growth models like fist and last passage percolation is well-known. In this talk I shall discuss, with several examples, how deviation estimates with varying precisions can be used to answer various questions about geodesics and the large scale geometry of the underlying space-time landscape in the context of the exactly solvable model of exponential last passage percolation.
