Learning from NVIDIA: Fast (but sloppy) solution of differential equations with inequality constraints using position-based dynamics

The solution of differential equations with inequality constraints is as old as challenging. The key problem might be that it is very hard to construct numerical methods which are consistent, stable and fast at the same time.
In this talk, I want to look at a stable and fast method which is used in computer-graphics: Position-based dynamics. The only catch is that this method is not consistent (...welcome to the dark side of math). But if the computational budget is tight and high accuracy is less essential, the method has many nice properties when applied to ODE and PDE models with inequalities.
