Numerical integration plays a fundamental role in computational mathematics, providing techniques for the numerical approximation of definite integrals. In this session we will introduce the principles of constructing quadrature rules on intervals and their error analysis. We conclude the session with an outlook on extensions for subsequent lecture units.
