The occupational psychology service includes advising employees on mental stress in the workplace and helps them to identify and assess the causes of work-related health hazards and work stress in order to derive measures to improve the working environment.
Councelling and Coaching:
- For employees who have general psychological and psychosocial questions
- Dealing with mental and physical strains, concerns about one’s own mental health
- To identify and assess work-related health hazards and derive suitable and realistic individual measures
- Maintaining and improving employees’ physical and mental health, enjoyment of life and satisfaction with their job through enhanced self- or work organisation (individually and in teams), optimisation of work processes and work culture or other suitable individual strategies
- Stress and burnout prevention and resilience
- Time management, self-management and work-life balance
- For employees who fear that they might suffer from a mental illness, or want to learn how to deal better with a mental illness and their own work (anxiety, depression, “tics”, personality changes...)
- For employees dealing with exceptional life situations (crises, violence, abuse, trauma, grief, bereavement, addiction...)
- Professional counselling and support during processes of development in work and private life
At the University of Vienna, the following units and services are responsible for equal treatment and non-discrimination:
- Conflict Resolution Counselling Office
The Conflict Resolution Counselling Office gives advice and offers support to all employees if they face problems in their work and their working environment. - Sexual Harassment and Bullying Counselling Office
Persons affected by sexual harassment and bullying can consult the Office (psychotherapists and social workers) confidentially and free of charge. (➥ Info-Folder) - Equal Opportunities Working Party (AKGL):
Since 1993 there are equal opportunities working parties at the Austrian universities. These working parties are independent collegial bodies. At the University of Vienna, the Working Party consists of 21 members and 42 substitute members belonging to all groups of
university members. - Arbitration Committee
The tasks of the Arbitration Committee comprise mediating in disputes between university members and ruling on complaints by the Equal Opportunities Working Party. - Works Council of the Scientific and for the General University Staff
- Services by Human Resources Development Upon request, the person affected or the organisational units and subunits can make use of different individual measures, such as mediation or coaching.
