Abstract: We give a brief introduction to the Manin-Mumford Conjecture and related problems, which roughly describe when the intersection of a subvariety of a (semi-)abelian variety with an arithmetically defined subset is larger than expected on dimension grounds. We then present some p-adic versions of these results, and outline an application to the study of Bianchi modular forms.
