We study the behaviour of certain types of local distinction for GL(n) under quadratic base change and automorphic induction. In fact we deduce it from the behaviour of self-duality and conjugate self-duality of Galois parameters under these operations, and then apply the LLC.
We also give an application of our results on Galois parameters to the parity of the Artin conductors of self-dual Galois representations.
