Affine Springer theory studies affine Springer fibers and their generalizations, which are relevant for example in the theory of orbital integrals, the Hitchin and related fibrations, and the representation theory of affine Weyl groups and DAHA. I will give an overview of (generalized) affine Springer theory and how it conjecturally relates to the HOMFLY-PT homology of algebraic links. I will also explain some new results in this direction, based on joint work with Niklas Garner and others.
