Time-periodic solutions to the cubic wave equation

Filip Ficek (University of Vienna)

In this talk I will discuss time-periodic solutions to the one-dimensional cubic wave equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Even though they have been an object of thorough investigations over the years, not much seems to be known about their structure since most of the results are non-constructive. I will present an elementary approach leading to proofs of existence that provide additional information about frequencies and profiles of the obtained solutions. As a result, we are able to identify new classes of large-energy solutions and unveil intricate patterns that they form.
