In this talk, we will talk about how to use multipliers of Schwartz test functions to isolate cuspidal components of the \(L^2\) spectrum of a reductive group. We will then briefly explain how to apply this result to the Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture for unitary groups. This is a joint work with R. Beuzart-Plessis, W. Zhang, and X. Zhu.
