Abstract:
The Edelman-Greene bijection is a correspondence between sorting
networks and standard Young tableaux of staircase shape. I will present
a new conjectural identity between generating series of these two sets
of combinatorial objects. This has arisen from a distributional identity
between certain observables of the oriented swap process and the corner
growth model, which can be viewed as randomized versions of sorting
networks and standard Young tableaux, respectively. Using the RSK and
Burge correspondences, I will also outline further connections with
another celebrated probabilistic model: last passage percolation.
