Abstract: Polynomial functors and their subvarieties are an approach to study asymptotic properties of tensors. In this talk we give a gentle introduction and summarize some key results, in particular that any polynomial functor is topologically Noetherian. The main new result we present says that there exists a good notion of singular locus in this setting. Moreover, we will construct a weak uniform resolution of singularities in the special case where the dimension grows linearly with that of the input vector space.
