Abstract: Polynomial functors and their subvarieties are an approach to study asymptotic properties of tensors. In this talk we give a gentle introduction and summarize some key results, in particular that any polynomial functor is topologically Noetherian. The main new result we present says that there exists a good notion of singular locus in this setting. Moreover, we will construct a weak uniform resolution of singularities in the special case where the dimension grows linearly with that of the input vector space. This talk covers joint work with Alessandro Danelon and Jan Draisma.
