On November 24, 2017 our colleague Michael Eichmair was awarded the Prize of the Austrian Mathematical Society 2017. The report of the jury says: "The committee feels that Michael Eichmair has reached a level of distinction within mathematics that goes far beyond the necessary requirements for the award. He is well deserving and it is an honor to recommend him for this distinction." This text was also read out at the presentation of the Prize.
