Abstract:
Ramanujan's congruence for the partition function modulo 5 is perhaps one of the more celebrated classical results in the theory of partitions. In this talk, we begin our discussion with an alternative conception for parity bias in partitions involving the sum of parts instead of the length of parts, which leads us to discover some remarkable and unexpected congruences. During the course of this discussion we also find links to quasi-modular forms.
