We will consider wave maps from \((1+d)\)-dimensional Minkowski space to the \(d\)-sphere. For \(d \geq 3\) there exists an explicit self-similar solution that blows up in finite time. Under a certain symmetry assumption the stability of this solution has been established within the last 15 years or so. In this talk I will present current progress on the establishment of stability without any symmetry assumptions. This is joint work with Roland Donninger.
