Scalable Solvers for Stokes Equations: Segregated approaches and a monolithic Algebraic Multigrid Method

27.10.2021 15:00 - 15:30

Lukas Kogler (TU Wien)

The discretization of Stokes Equations with Finite Elements leads to a saddle point system for velocity and pressure wich can be difficult to solve for large scale problems. Segregated approaches try to apply preconditioners to both quantities seperately. This allows for re-use of available, general purpose solvers developed for elliptic problems, however such approaches can have difficulties with complicated geometries. We present our current efforts to develop a truly monolithic method that may be able to overcome them.
