Following the announcement of this year’s laureate, we are pleased to cordially invite you to the award ceremony of the Oskar Morgenstern Medal 2025 hosted by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics (University of Vienna). We would be delighted if you could distribute the invitation within your sphere of influence and help to spread and reinforce the information.
This year’s Oskar Morgenstern Medal honors Prof. Phanish Puranam (INSEAD) for his pioneering contributions to organization science. His work combines analytical rigor with real-world impact, shaping how we understand and design organizations in an increasingly complex, interconnected, and technology-driven world.
In particular, Prof. Puranam’s research explores how decision-making architectures can be improved and how artificial intelligence can be integrated into organizations in a way that fosters collaboration, innovation, and human-centeredness.
The award highlights the importance of rethinking the future of organizations – a theme that Prof. Puranam will address in his public lecture “Designing Organizations in the Age of Algorithms”.
Speakers include:
Univ.- Prof. Dr. Karl F. Dörner (Dean of the Faculty)
Univ.- Prof. Dr. Sebastian Schütze (Rector of the University of Vienna)
FM Eva Maria Holzleitner, BSc. (Federal Minister of Women, Science and Research)
Laudatio: Univ.- Prof. Dr. Markus Reitzig
Following the award ceremony, we warmly invite you to join Prof. Phanish Puranam for his public lecture:
„Designing Organizations in the Age of Algorithms“
Date: Thursday, 9. October 2025 Time: 15:30 – 17:00
Place: HS1 (EG), Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics
Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1, 1090 Vienna
The capacity to organize ourselves to pursue a variety of goals is one of the oldest and most powerful technologies our species has developed. Phanish Puranam will draw on his research to describe how organizations and their designs are being impacted by another powerful, far more recently developed technology: Artificial Intelligence (AI). He will highlight the challenges that lie ahead for organizations when adopting AI technologies in a manner that is both goal centric and human-centric.
