Diversity is a core value of the University of Vienna—both as an educational institution and as an employer. We are committed to ensuring that all members of our university community—staff and students alike—accept one another for their uniqueness and treat each other with respect.

During Pride Month, we make this commitment particularly visible: In addition to rainbow tours in German and English, we offer continuing education courses in areas such as diversity competence. The University of Vienna also embodies diversity in its research—with a strong focus on women’s and gender history, gender studies, and other socially relevant topics.

A citywide highlight is the Rainbow Parade on June 13, when over 300,000 people march down the Ringstrasse and the Pride Village on Rathausplatz becomes a colorful hub. For two weeks, Vienna celebrates with numerous events, culture, and queer joie de vivre—and the University of Vienna is part of it.
