The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) is a post-doctoral research and training programme in which the post-doc (fellow) gains additional skills and abilities working on a specific research project in a new environment, while also transferring their knowledge within their new institution. Open to all fields of research, fellows must apply to work with a supervisor during the well-defined, 2-year, career stage.
The Expression of Interest (EoI) programme
The Expression of Interest (EoI) programme is an additional process run internally by the University to proactively attract applications from excellent researchers worldwide who are interested in applying for a MSCA fellowship. Building on the success, experience and awareness created by the EoI programme in previous years, this year the Research Services and Career Development department (DLE FSNF) will return to running an EoI for the 2023 call.
Process for the 2023 call - EoI
Researchers at the University who have confirmed their interest to be included as supervisor will be listed on the dedicated MSCA-PF webpage, which will also include all the necessary information about the application process. Fellows interested in applying for a MSCA-PF at the University will submit an Expression of Interest (EoI), outlining their project idea and identifying a supervisor from the University. EoIs will be administered by the DLE FSNF to ensure that potential mentors are not over-burdened by fellows looking for host groups. Supervisors will select their top candidate with whom DLE will then work intensively to prepare an application. The EoI is an extra step in the application process, and MSCA-PF applications do not need to complete the EoI in order to take advantage of our services or be eligible to submit.
Extra Funding for a Third Year
The University of Vienna has again made extra funding available for the 10 top-ranked MSCA European Fellowships (top 5 female and top 5 male) awarded to the University (based on the score given by the European Commission). An additional third year of salary will be funded, allowing the fellow and supervisor to carry out additional research, publication, training or grant writing. As this third year is funded separately by the University, the activities should be related to but distinct from what will be carried out during the first two years of the project.
