International Women in Mathematics Day!

07.05.2026

The International Women in Mathematics Day has been celebrated annually on May 12 since 2019. It commemorates the birthday of mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, who passed away in 2017 and became the first woman ever to receive the prestigious Fields Medal in 2014. The purpose of this commemorative day is not only to honor Mirzakhani, but also to increase the visibility of women in a field where they remain underrepresented to this day.
