Artificial intelligence, optimization methods, and quantum algorithms are shaping the technological progress of our time. The mathematical foundations of these and many other developments are the focus of the international conference “Foundations of Computational Mathematics (FoCM) 2026,” which will take place from July 8 to 18, 2026, at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna.

Over the course of eleven conference days, more than 800 experts from mathematics, computer science, and related disciplines will come together. Among the participants are researchers from nearly all of the world’s leading universities, as well as more than 200 early-career researchers.

In 18 plenary lectures and 21 workshops covering the full spectrum of theoretical and applied mathematical research areas with a computational focus, participants will present and discuss current research findings and shape the future development of computational mathematics. The scientific program will be complemented by a variety of side events that combine academic exchange with the many facets of Viennese hospitality.

The conference series, organized by the FoCM Society, ranks among the leading international scientific events in the field of computational mathematics. Following the 2023 edition in Paris, the University of Vienna is hosting this year’s triennial conference.
